Application Process

The steps for applying for admission to Beaver are outlined below.

Step 1: Inquire Online

Please complete and submit the Online Inquiry Form. This will add your family to our mailing list to receive information and invitations to school events. When you have completed all the required fields, click “Review Inquiry” (at the bottom left of the form) make sure all information is correct, then click “Submit.”

Families with more than one child interested in applying should submit a separate online inquiry for each child.


Step 2: Schedule Tour & Interview

A campus tour and interview are required parts of the admission process and must be completed by January 15.

Please call the admission office at (617) 738-2725 to schedule an appointment. At least one parent or guardian should accompany the applicant. The visit begins with a tour of the campus followed by separate interviews with the applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) This gives the admissions officer a chance to get to know the applicant and family.

You can expect the visit to take between one and a half to two hours.
Prior to your tour and interview, please create a Ravenna account and indicate that you are “exploring” Beaver. From here you will be able to complete the application but are not required to do so before the tour and interview.

Step 3: Complete Application

All application materials are due by January 15.

Following the inquiry, please click the below link to complete our online application through Ravenna Solutions. When you arrive at the page you will be asked to create an account, at which point you will be able to look up Beaver in the “School Directory” and complete the application. For any technical questions about Ravenna, please contact them directly by following the instructions on the login page. Please note that you must apply through Ravenna, as we no longer accept or provide paper applications.


To apply for financial aid, please go to the NAIS’s School & Student Services website and complete the online Personal Financial Statement (PFS), entering school code 1528. You may also contact the Admission Office to obtain the PFS and additional information.

  • Completed PFS for all parents (including spouses if remarried)
  • Signed federal tax returns (with all supporting schedules) and W-2s forms for last year (2014) and this year (2015) and a signed undated IRS 4506 form can be found here.
  • IRS Form 1099 or a Business/Farm Statement if self-employed.

The deadline for applying for financial aid is February 1.

Step 4: Submit Standardized Test Scores

All applicants are required to take either the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) or the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Examination).

Applicants may register for either test (online or by requesting a registration form from the Admission Office) and request that scores be sent directly to Beaver (school code #220595 for ISEE or #1528 for SSAT). Either test must be taken by the application deadline of January 15.

Step 5: Notification

The Admission Office publishes decisions on Revenna on March 10 (for applications submitted by January 15). Admitted students have until April 11 to submit enrollment contracts and a $1,000 tuition deposit. Admitted students will have the opportunity to re-visit campus and attend classes before they must decide (re-visit days are in early April, after our students return from spring break).


Application Guidelines for Home Schooled Students

A detailed syllabus for last year’s academic work, as well as this current year: This syllabus should include course names, length of each course, textbooks used, and instructors’ names.

A sample writing assignment from the current year: This should include the assignment, the student’s work, and the instructor’s final evaluation and/or comments.

A transcript for last year’s academic work as well as this current year: This should include the course names with final comments and/or evaluations for each subject. Please also indicate if these courses run on terms, trimesters or quarters.

A weekly schedule: A detailed, daily schedule for a typical week of school. Please also include any extracurricular involvements.

Teacher Recommendations: Please have the instructor(s) fill out the math and English recommendations to the best of their ability. Of course some of the information requested will not be applicable to a home schooled student. However as much of each recommendation that can be filled out is very helpful.

Applications received after the January 15 deadline are welcomed but can only be considered as space and funds allow.
